Coat Colour

Carr & Day & Martin Gallop Colour Enhancing Shampoos are high-performance luxury shampoos specifically formulated to amplify a horse's natural coat color and sheen to a professional showring standard. These formulas rely on colour enhancers and optical brighteners rather than permanent dyes, meaning an exact colour match is not mandatory to achieve vivid, glossy results.
Available Formulations
The shampoo line is split into four distinct colour-focused variations, typically sold in 500ml bottles designed to last for roughly 5 to 10 washes:
  • Gallop Colour Bay Shampoo: Intensifies rich, multi-tonal bay shades. Available at retailers like Supplement Solutions and Townfields.
  • Gallop Colour Black Shampoo: Deepens dark, black coats and neutralizes sun-bleached areas. Stocked by merchants including Redpost Equestrian.
  • Gallop Colour Grey Shampoo: Formulated specifically for grey and white shades, utilizing deep purple pigments to lift stubborn stable stains and brighten discoloration. Can be found at Millbry Hill and Mole Online.
  • Gallop Colour Chestnut & Palomino Shampoo: Brightens golden, chestnut, and palomino tones. Available through the Red Mills Store.
Key Benefits
  • Showring Standard: Optical brighteners dramatically enhance coat vibrancy for show prep.
  • Immediate Results: The color-deepening and stain-lifting visual effects are visible as soon as the coat dries.
  • Versatile Use: Gentle enough for routine grooming, though highly optimized for pre-competition preparation.
  • Multi-use: Safe and effective for use on the body coat as well as manes and tails.
Application Instructions
  1. Wet the coat: Thoroughly soak the horse's coat with warm or clean water.
  2. Apply directly: Pour the shampoo undiluted straight onto the wet coat, or apply via a sponge.
  3. Work into a lather: Massage the product deeply into the hair using your hands, a sponge, or a stiff grooming brush to build up a rich lather.
  4. Rinse completely: Wash out all product residue thoroughly with clean water.
